Nice drawing style and expression in the characters. I kind of want to see more contrast in the coloring though. With that strong of a light source, there should be some stronger shadows maybe?

I agree, however, that isn't really the background for the drawing....by that I mean that the characters aren't actually there.

It's more symbolic. I won't bother explaining the symbolism since the story hasn't been released yet. ^_^
